More than half a Life's time of bellydance ...
Often with the unconditional support of family and friends, I am here for my Students, Troupe members and responsible Fellow Dancers/Performers who passionately entertain and educate, simultaneously. I strive to impart without limitations my knowlege of bellydance; endeavor to fill the needs of each student to the best of my ability; and guide students to become proficient, dynamic, and beautiful dancers. I hope to encourage personal growth, non-competition, humility, camaraderie, strength in group unity, confidence, artistic expression, empathy, and accept knowledge as a life-long learning process ❦
KGU-am760 Charlene-on-Greem Interview • 5.27.2011 ❦
The following info taken from interview for the Honolulu Club • FREE 3-day Pass & Club tour when you mention Jean's BellyDance class!
Jean was a founding member, past president and board member of Middle Eastern Dance Artists of Hawai'i, a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the diversity of Middle Eastern and related forms of dance, music, art and culture through education, instruction and community. She is also the Director and Choreographer of her performing dance troupe, BellyDance 808 Hawai'i Raks.
Jean is a third generation instructor of the Salimpour Technique© which has proven to produce outstanding dancers. All beginner students start with Salimpour Technique© which helps them to develop strong foundational skills through focused isolated muscular movements. Jean credits mentor Taia Chard ~who was taught by Jamila Salimpour herself~ for her inspiration and ability to breakdown complex movements.
The Honolulu Club by far is Jean's favorite dance studio, and all classes and workshops are open to non-members and members alike. Jean's dedication to dance includes a commitment to impart to students without reservation all the dance knowledge she possesses. Words fail to describe the joy and satisfaction she receives when her students develop into confident, proficient, graceful and artful dancers ❦
