UPDATE ON ADULT EDUCATION & KCSA'S SPECIAL INTEREST PROGRAM
Sharing an acknowledgment from Principal Tanaka in his Feb MEMO to staff that Spring 2012's enrollment boost was due in large part to you, awesome effort! Please continue to support Kaimuki Community School for Adults (KCSA) to become the first Adult Charter School (click KOKUA KCSA). This innovative and viable plan can help KCSA to survive the closure of all adult education schools on Hawai`i. Please take a moment to watch the clip and write a comment about your positive experiences at KCSA. Although all of Hawai`i's adult schools are scheduled for a planned consolidation closure, the Board of Education (BOE) is targeting KCSA's "Special Interest Program" for discontinuation. DANCE THE DISTANCE! PLEASE support of KCSA’s Special Interest Program by sharing your experiences in writing with the BOE, Representative Calvin Say, and the Governor.
TELL THEM ABOUT: the practical and interesting selection of courses offered; the qualified and passionate instructors; indispensable life skills you've been taught; your personal growth and its impact on family, friends and community; the fascinating topics and people you would not have had an opportunity to know; the need for continued adult education in the community and especially at this location; the conscientious administration and staff at KCSA; and give YOUR support for KCSA's application as a Hawai`i Public Charter School and its proposed "trial period".
Please Click on: KOKUA KAIMUKI COMMUNITY SCHOOL FOR ADULTS
UPDATE: Effective Aug 1, Kaimuki (KCSA) consolidated with McKinley (MCSA). Although the BOE made assurances to maintain the status quo for classes offered at KCSA, it's interesting to note that KCSA's Fall list of classes number only 44 from its previous offering of 160 classes. MCSA then fails to provide the community with important changes in order to registrater for KCSA classes on the following respective websites:
MCSA = http://165.248.6.166/data/school.asp?schoolcode=480
KCSA = http://165.248.6.166/data/school.asp?schoolcode=478
It should be apparent that KCSA's Fall enrollment will suffer a dramatic drop. Should this strategy of numbers succeeds, it will be easy to justify the closure of this valuable community education site that has the potential to serve approx. 4,000 adult learners/students each year; and under KCSA's Charter Application be self-sustaining.
Please kokua and support KCSA's application to become Hawai`i first Adult Charter School, mahalo nui loa!
